Wagner, football, soul music and M*A*S*H aren’t usually thought of together. But, they are tonight. These are just some of our TV show recommendations for Monday, September 10, 2012.
Monday Night Football
The new season begins on Mondays with ESPN’s Monday Night Football at 4:00 PT/7:00 ET. Tonight it’s the Cincinnati Bengals at the Baltimore Ravens.
Respect Yourself: The Stax Record Story
Starz in Black has Respect Yourself: The Stax Record Story at 6:05. This documentary film, featuring Bono, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Moore and others, documents the history of the influential music label responsible for some of the best soul music from the 1960′s and 1970′s from artists including Otis Redding, Booker T. & the MG’s, Eddie Floyd, and the Staple Singers.
All on the Line
The Sundance Channel has the third season premiere of All on the Line, the reality/doc series that stars Elle Creative Director, Joe Zee, at 6:00 PT/9:00 ET.
Memories of M*A*S*H
Memories of M*A*S*H, the special that features clips and reminiscences from the show’s stars and creators, Gene Reynolds and Larry Gelbart, is on TV Land at 6:30.
The Crimson Petal and the White
Encore brings us The Crimson Petal and the White, a 2011 UK mini-series based on the 2002 Victorian novel, at 8:00. The critics appreciate the lush atmosphere but are mixed on the end result.
The Voice
Music talent show, The Voice, returns to NBC for its third season premiere at 8:00.
Basketball Wives: Los Angeles
Basketball Wives: Los Angeles starts its second season on VH1 at 8:00. This reality show spin-off of Basketball Wives, follows the lives of a group of women who have all been somehow romantically linked to professional basketball players.
Bachelor Pad
Catch the season finale of Bachelor Pad on ABC at 8:00 and find out which couple will win the $250,000 grand prize.
Hell’s Kitchen
Fox has the season finale of Hell’s Kitchen, the reality cooking competition show, at 8:00.
Masterchef
And, speaking of food and Fox, the network also has the season finale of Masterchef, the cooking game show, at 9:00.
State of Style
State of Style has its premiere on, what else, Style ! at 9:00 PT/midnight ET.
Hoarders
The show that depicts the real-life struggles and treatment of people who suffer from compulsive hoarding, Hoarders, has its season premiere on A&E at 9:00.
Bath Crashers
The season premiere of Bath Crashers is on DIY Network at 10:30. In this show Matt Muenster ambushes homeowners while they’re home improvement shopping, follows the lucky homeowner home and totally overhauls a bathroom in need of repair.
The Wendy Williams Show
BET has the season premiere of talker, The Wendy Williams Show, at midnight.
Great Performances at the Met – Wagner’s Dream
And, for all of you sophistacates out there, certain PBS stations have Wagner’s Dream as part of Great Performances at the Met, the show is a documentary that follows the Metropolitan Opera’s ambitious new production of the operatic epic, Richard Wagner’s four-part, 16-hour Ring Cycle.
