REVIEWS

Los Angeles Times writes, “And even with the broken bones, missing teeth and other trauma, those interviewed in this thoughtful elegy to the enforcer say they have no regrets over the path they chose. In fact, former St. Louis Blue Kelly Chase (an executive producer on the film) wells up before saying he only wished he had done it with “more fire.”“

Washington City Paper says, “The film goes further than noting the “profound loyalty” of enforcers and dismissing the number of injuries they cause by comparing them to innocent hits. The tough guys are practically elevated to saintlike status, being deemed “the most ethical and moral member(s) of the tribe.”“

Film Inquiry thinks, “Ice Guardians was made as a response to the enforcer’s decreasing role in ice hockey. Public opinion and the style of the game has moved against then, but there’s still reasons to grieve for their absence. Ice Guardians can get people back on the enforcer’s side, but even if it’s too late to save them, it still encapsulates why we should respect them.”
